What is HomesteadHacks?

HomesteadHacks is a hackathon for middle schoolers interested in computer science, whether or not they are experienced programmers or unsure of how to kick start their learning. The hackathon will be composed of both workshops to teach participants how to translate their ideas into code and work time to create code to solve a variety of problems they are passionate about. The event will be about 12 hours. The time will be split into 3 hours of instructed learning and 7 hours of work time. The remaining 2 hours will be reserved for judging and awards. Food will be provided.
